Erik Brännström has been assigned to the Abbotsford Canucks

THN's The Big Show- NHL Tax Advantage

The Vancouver Canucks made two-player announcements on Monday. Defenceman Filip Hronek joined the team in Winnipeg for practice, while defenceman Erik Brännström was assigned to the Abbotsford Canucks. While Hronek has now joined the team, he is still listed on injury reserve and must be activated before dressing for a game.

Hronek has been out of the lineup since November 27. Since then, he has had a procedure on a lower-body injury while also resting and recovering from an upper-body injury that did not need surgery. According to head coach Rick Tocchet, Hronek will be a game-time decision for tomorrow's game against the Winnipeg Jets, which is the Canucks final on their current five-game road trip.

Inserting Hronek back into the lineup is massive for Vancouver. It would mean Quinn Hughes gets his partner back, while Tocchet and his staff can balance blue lines ice times. In 21 games this season, Hronek has one goal and nine points while averaging 23:36 of ice time per game.

As for Brännström, he is no longer listed on Vancouver's roster and is projected to join Abbotsford right away. Up next for the AHL Canucks is a mid-week back-to-back against the Ontario Reign, with the first matchup scheduled for Tuesday. Once in the lineup, Brännström should play a significant role for Abbotsford in both their top four and on the power play.
