"I Hate The Canucks": Flames Andersson Throws Shot At Vancouver

Calgary Flames defenceman Rasmus Andersson made his thoughts clear on a potential trade to the Vancouver Canucks.

The Vancouver Canucks are trying to make a trade and have been connected to numerous players around the league. One player that Canucks fans have been curious about is right-handed defenceman Rasmus Andersson, who has one year left on his contract after this season. While Andersson would be a great addition to Vancouver's blue line, it seems that the Calgary Flames defender has no interest in joining the Canucks.

In a recent interview with Sportsnet, Andersson made his opinions clear on potentially joining Vancouver. The 28-year-old said, "I hate the Oilers, I hate the Canucks and that’s just the way I am." While Andersson admitted in the interview that he has little say on whether he is traded, he does hold a six-team no-trade clause, which could prevent the Flames from trading him to certain destinations.

Andersson's comments may cause a little awkwardness next month, as he will be playing beside players from both Vancouver and the Edmonton Oilers at the 4 Nations Face-Off. Both Elias Pettersson and Mattias Ekholm were named to Sweden's roster, with Ekholm potentially being Andersson's defence partner for the tournament. As for Pettersson, he should see plenty of time on the ice with Andersson, as both are projected to play key roles for Team Sweden.

Unfortunately for Canucks fans, they will not get the opportunity to make their feelings known about Andersson this season. Vancouver and Calgary have already played twice at Rogers Arena, with the final matchup scheduled for March 12 at the Scotiabank Saddledome. That being said, it is possible that Andersson does get moved this season, which could provide Canucks fans an opportunity when he visits Vancouver with his new team.
