Team reduced roster by 20 on Sunday

The Vancouver Canucks are wasting no time getting down to the final decisions of training camp. On Sunday morning, hours after a 5-2 win over Edmonton, the Canucks announced 20 cuts from their roster.

Vasily Podkolzin and Akito Hirose were the most noteable names to be re-assigned to Abbotsford. Others that may have caught some by surprise include Arshdeep Bains, Aatu Raty, Sheldon Dries and Aidan McDonough.

As indicated by the team on social media, Dries, Jack Rathbone, Matt Irwin, Jett Woo and Zach Sawchenko require waivers before being re-assigned to the American Hockey League.

Today's moves narrow the focus on the final decisions to be made by the hockey club before setting its opening night roster. Among those still in camp believed to be on the bubble: Guillaume Brisebois, Cole McWard and Noah Juulsen.

On Sunday afternoon, the Canucks also assigned goalie Arturs Silovs to Abbotsford.
