The Vancouver Canucks could be without two key pieces on Saturday when they take on the Vegas Golden Knights. According to Ian MacIntyre of "Sportsnet," both Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes are currently dealing with injuries. As posted by MacIntyre, "Per Canucks coach Rick Tocchet, C Elias Pettersson's status is day-to-day w injury from 4 Nations, and it doesn't appear Quinn Hughes will be ready to play SAT vs VGK. Both Pettersson and Hughes left the ice shortly after today's practice began."

Hughes missing Saturday's game would not be shocking as he wasn't medically cleared to play Thursday for Team USA during the 4 Nations Face-Off final. The Canucks captain has been out of the lineup since January 31, 2025, with a reported oblique injury. Despite only playing 47 of the team's 55 games, Hughes leads Vancouver with 59 points and sits tied for second in the NHL for points by a defenseman this season.
As for Pettersson, his injury status will be something to monitor moving forward. The Canucks center missed six games earlier this season with an undisclosed injury but has played every game since returning from injury on January 10, 2025. Pettersson also played in all three of Team Sweden's games during the 4 Nations Face-Off but did not log a shift in the final 15 minutes of Sweden's game on Monday versus Team Canada.
Vancouver begins a five-game road trip Saturday night when they take on Vegas. This will be the first half of a back-to-back, with the Canucks travelling to Utah for a Sunday night battle against the Utah Hockey Club. Puck drop for Saturday's game is scheduled for 7:00 pm PT.
