Demko was named the NHL's second star for the week of December 11th-17th, 2023.

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko has been named the NHL's Second Star of the Week. From Dec 11-17, this year's potential Vezina winner went 3-0, with his standout performance coming against the Florida Panthers on Roberto Luongo Night. With one of the greatest Canucks in the building, Vancouver's netminder stopped all 36 shots he faced, recording his third shutout of the season.

Demko was also strong in his other two matchups this week. He held the high-flying Tampa Bay Lightning to one goal on 29 shots and secured a victory over the Chicago Blackhawks despite a late third-period push. With only one loss in his last six games, he has solidified himself as one of the best goaltenders in the NHL this season.

After his solid week, Demko is now 16-7-0 on the year with a .921 SV% and a 2.34 GAA. On top of leading the league in wins, his three shutouts are tied with Connor Ingram and Tristan Jarry for most in the NHL. He is even a leader when it comes to analytics, as according to MoneyPuck his 15.8 goals saved above expected in all situations are the highest of any goaltender this season. What a year it has been for the 28-year-old as he is on pace to produce one of the greatest seasons by a Canucks goaltender in franchise history.
