A mixed week of home and away games.
Welcome to The Weekly Rewind, a column published every Monday that recaps the past week of Vancouver Canucks hockey, including the team’s record, players with the highest stats, and more. This week, we’ll be looking at what the Canucks got up to from December 2 to 8.
Vancouver started their week against the Minnesota Wild, where they suffered a close 3–2 overtime loss at the hands of a goal by Kirill Kaprizov. In this matchup, Jake DeBrusk extended his goal streak to three games, putting up his 11th of the season. Vancouver controlled the faceoff dot, winning 56.5% of the draws with help from Pius Suter (60 FOW%) and Teddy Blueger (66.7 FOW%).
After their trip to Minnesota, the Canucks came back to Rogers Arena to take on the Columbus Blue Jackets. The start of this game didn’t look too optimistic, as Vancouver were down 2–0 by the end of the first period. However, the Canucks went on to score five consecutive goals to win the game 5–2. Brock Boeser tallied his 400th career point, Suter potted two goals, and DeBrusk continued his goal streak by adding one more in the third period.
