Welcome to The Weekly Rewind, a column published every Monday that recaps the past week of Vancouver Canucks hockey, including the team’s record, players with the highest stats, and more. This week, we’ll be looking at what the Canucks got up to from February 24 to March 2, 2025.

Vancouver played three games this week, two of which were in California. Their first stop of the week was in Los Angeles to play the L.A. Kings, during which they clawed their way to a 3–2 overtime victory after giving up a 2–0 lead. Conor Garland made his presence known during this game, scoring two of the team’s goals including the game-winner. Tyler Myers took a puck to the collarbone area late in the game in a scary sequence of events, but made his triumphant return the game after.

In the second half of their back-to-back on Thursday, Vancouver gave up five unanswered goals and suffered a 5–2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks. Myers put Canucks fans on a rollercoaster by taking an early penalty in the first period, but following it up with a goal off his rush out of the penalty box. Once again, Vancouver took a 2–0 lead only to squander it in the second period by letting Anaheim score three. The Ducks added two more goals in the third period.

With a day’s rest and travel, the Canucks’ next game came on Saturday against the Seattle Kraken. The game was relatively back-and-forth until Seattle took a quick 4–3 lead in the second period. Quinn Hughes, who had just made his return from an undisclosed injury earlier in the week, had his time on ice limited in the third period and ultimately didn’t play the final 9:05 minutes. Despite Vancouver’s efforts, the Kraken took home a 6–3 win.
