Journey back to 1988 to read all about the Canucks journey through their first 17 years in the league.

In this edition of The Hockey News, join award-winning writer Tony Gallagher as he tells the story of the Vancouver Canucks first 17 seasons in the NHL. As Gallagher details, while the Canucks did make the Stanley Cup Final in 1982, it was a tough time, with Vancouver holding the third-worst record of any team in the league since their inception. From losing the expansion draft to trading away Cam Neely, there were many dark years for fans in Vancouver during the team's first two decades in the NHL.

Don't forget also to check out Stan Fischler's article about the NHL's most underrated players. In this article, Fischler puts his list against broadcaster Peter McNab's to see which team is more underrated. While Fischler's list is absent of Canucks, McNab's includes Tony Tanti, who was often forgotten about as he did not play out East.

Lastly, make sure to read Jay Greenberg's article about life in Edmonton post-Gretzky. With the great one now in LA, Greenberg describes the feeling of watching an Oilers legend play for another team. It is a good reminder that any player is tradeable and the relationships they build with media members and fans during their careers.
