After a long season, the 2025 Memorial Cup is finally ready to begin. The Rimouski Océanic will host this year's tournament and will run from May 23 to June 1. Just like in 2024, the Vancouver Canucks will have a prospect participating in the tournament, as defenceman Basile Sansonnens will have his eyes on winning a championship in front of his home crowd.

Sansonnens will not have to wait long to kick off the 2025 Memorial Cup, as Rimouski opens the tournament on May 23 against the Medicine Hat Tigers. The WHL representative is stacked with talent, including Gavin McKenna, who is projected to be the first overall pick in 2026. Puck drop is scheduled for 4:00 pm, and can be viewed on TSN.

The Océanic will then take on the OHL champions, the London Knights. The Knights are making their second straight trip to the Memorial Cup and are aiming for a better result than last season. Puck drop for this matchup is scheduled for May 25 @ 3:00 pm PT and can be viewed on TSN.

The round-robin wraps up with Rimouski facing off against the Moncton Wildcats, whom they recently faced in the QMJHL Final. The Océanicwill be looking for some revenge, as the Wildcats defeated the Memorial Cup hosts to win this year's Gilles-Courteau Trophy. Puck drop for this all-QMJHL matchup is scheduled for May 28 @ 4:00 pm PT, with the game being available on TSN.

Overall, the 2025 Memorial Cup field is stacked, which should lead to an entertaining tournament. It will not be easy for Sansonnens and Rimouski, but they have shown all year that they are up for any challenge. If the 2024 seventh-rounder can win the championship, he will join a long list of players who won the Memorial Cup and were drafted by Vancouver, which includes Stan Smyl, Trevor Linden, and Cam Neely.
