The Burnaby-born singer will reportedly join the Canucks captain's team at the All-Star Game.
With the 2024 NHL All-Star Game just a few weeks away, more details are being revealed surrounding the festivities. According to Matt Larkin of Daily Faceoff, not only will Vancouver Canucks defenceman Quinn Hughes be named one of the captains, but he will be joined by Vancouver Giants owner Michael Bublé. The pride of Burnaby, B.C., will reportedly be beside Hughes at the All-Star Draft as he goes toe-to-toe with fellow artist Justin Bieber and two other celebrities who will participate in the event.
With Thatcher Demko also attending the event, fans around the NHL may finally get to see if Bublé can beat the Canucks goaltender in a breakaway challenge. Back in December, Bublé mentioned on the podcast Spittin' Chiclets that he made a bet with Demko, claiming that he could score on the All-Star once if given five opportunities. The punishment for allowing a goal was simple: Demko would have to join Bublé on stage at a concert and belt out a song. The All-Star game would be a perfect time to broadcast this bet as the eyes of the hockey world could see if a multi-time Grammy Award winner could score on a multi-time All-Star.
The other storyline heading into the All-Star Game is how long it will take for Hughes and Bublé to select a Canucks player for their team. With Elias Pettersson, J.T. Miller, Brock Boeser and Demko all available for selection, Vancouver's captain will have a tough decision to make at the draft on Feb 1. Whether he stocks up on teammates or selects his brother Jack Hughes in the first round, it is safe to say Team Hughes/Bublé will be stacked at the 2024 NHL All-Star Game.
