Josh Bloom and Ty Young have had strong starts to their ECHL seasons with the Kalamazoo Wings.
Two Vancouver Canucks prospects are off to hot starts in the ECHL this season. Both left winger Josh Bloom and goaltender Ty Young have had strong starts with the Kalamazoo Wings and have been pivotal in the team's 4-1 record so far this year. While it is early, both look like they are ready to excel at the pro level.
Starting with Bloom, he is currently tied for the team lead in goals with three and sits tied for second in points with five. Bloom is also the only player on the Wings with a shorthanded goal and has recorded at least two shots in each game. With points in four of his first five games, Bloom is showing that he is ready for the challenge and willing to do whatever it takes to get called up to the AHL's Abbotsford Canucks.

As for Young, he has been virtually unbeatable early in the season. Through two games, the 2022 fifth-round pick has stopped 74 of the 76 shots he has faced and owns a record of 1-1-0. With a .974 save percentage through his first two starts, Young continues to impress and is living up to expectations early in the season.
Kalamazoo's next game is scheduled for November 8 against the Bloomington Bison. The Bison are the affiliate team of the New York Rangers and feature a former Vancouver draft pick in Connor Lockhart, who was drafted by the Canucks in the sixth round of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. Game time is set for 5:00 pm PT from Bloomington, Illinois.
