Leading up to the draft day, we at The Hockey News will be profiling a different prospect who the Canucks could take with each of their picks. If the Canucks want to take a chance on a highly-skilled forward late in the draft, Záhejský could be their guy. The 17-year-old had 15 points in 46 WHL games, but finished his season off strong with four goals and five points in five games at the U18s for Czechia. Even though the stats from his rookie campaign do not jump off the page, Záhejský is an intriguing prospect who continually got better as he adjusted to the North American ice surface.

When watching Záhejský, the first notable attribute is his skating. He is very elusive when carrying the puck and can pull off high-skilled moves at top speed. Záhejský can also beat defenders in one-on-one races to loose pucks, as he was one of the fastest forwards in the WHL this season.

Záhejský's game is centred around his speed. He is always moving while in the offensive and likes to play along the perimeter, as there is more space for him to try and make a play. Záhejský is also very active while in the defensive zone, as he is constantly hounding puck carriers in order to try and create turnovers.

The next step in Záhejský's development will be rounding out his game and becoming more efficient in the offensive zone. This includes driving to the net more and finding ways to generate scoring chances from the slot. Záhejský also needs to work on his overall defensive positioning, as he can sometimes leave his designated area in order to chase the puck.

Záhejský is the type of prospect the Canucks should be targeting in the sixth round. The 5'10, 167 lbs forward is highly skilled, possesses a non-stop motor and competes fiercely every night. With the right development, Záhejský could turn into one of the steals from the 2025 draft.
