Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes has been named the second-best defenceman currently in the NHL. The list was put together by NHL Network, which revealed their top 20 defenders heading into the 2025-26 season. Last season, Quinn Hughes finished second on NHL Network's list, with Makar once again finishing in first. Hughes had yet another impressive season in 2024-25. He led the Canucks in scoring with 76 points in 68 games and tied Alex Edler for the most points by a defenceman in franchise history. Hughes also finished as a finalist for the Norris Trophy, finishing in third behind Cale Makar [http://thn.com/colorado] and Zach Werenski [http://thn.com/columbus]. Heading into next season, Hughes is projected to be a finalist yet again for the Norris Trophy. If he stays healthy and performs as he has over the past few seasons, he could also receive Hart Trophy votes at the end of the year.
