Schenn was just traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday night from the Nashville Predators. As a steady depth defender, he’ll look to help the Jets solidify their place atop the Western Conference heading into the postseason. Unless Vancouver tries to move pending free-agent Derek Forbort before the deadline, it’s not likely that the team moves any other defenders. Schenn will be joining a Jets blueline featuring players like Josh Morrisey, Neal Pionk, and Dylan DeMelo. While it’s unlikely that he’ll see the same amount of minutes with the Jets as he did with Vancouver, he’ll fill a depth role and will give Winnipeg some added security if injuries come knocking. Winnipeg also acquired Brandon Tanev, brother of former Canuck Chris Tanev, for a second-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft.
