Former Vegas Golden Knights forward Max Pacioretty is set to make his season debut tonight for the Washington Capitals when they take on the New Jersey Devils tonight.
"It's been fun. This is what I've done for 30 years of my life, so you know, when I wasn't doing it, I was missing it," Pacioretty said to Washington media. "Makes you realize how much you love the game and I'm definitely enjoying it right now, even just being a part of practices and bag skates and whatnot. You realize this is what I was born to do, so just enjoying it."
Pacioretty played four seasons with the Golden Knights after being traded to Vegas for Tomas Tatar, Nick Suzuki and a 2019 second-round pick.
He scored 97 goals and 97 assists during his time in Vegas.
Pacioretty was then traded to the Carolina Hurricanes for future considerations. He sustained a torn Achilles during an offseason workout, keeping him out of the first few months of the 2022-23 season. Then five games into his season, he suffered a second Achilles tear to end his season.
He signed with the Washington Capitals on July 1, 2023.
