It was a difficult season for the Golden Knights' 19th overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft. He sustained an injury early in the season, which forced him to miss a handful of games. He returned and won a gold medal with Team USA at the World Juniors, but the struggles at the college level continued. He finished his freshman season with just four goals and 13 points in 23 games, ranking 13th on the Friars in points. Entering the season, scouts feared that Connelly would need time to adapt to the style of hockey in the NCAA due to his small frame. He's listed at 6'1 but only weighs 161 lbs, which led to him struggling with the physicality. If the 19-year-old had a strong season and played as one of the better players in the NCAA, he could have earned an entry-level contract and finished the season with the Henderson Silver Knights in the AHL. Prior to the season, Connelly acknowledged the importance of adding weight to his frame during his college tenure and will need to work on that element when he likely returns to Providence next season.
