WASHINGTON — The Washington Capitals are back in action and looking to put an ugly Saturday showing behind them, and they'll have their captain in tow this time as they host the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Alex Ovechkin will return after getting Saturday off for rest after a physically and emotionally demanding week. The captain has 42 goals and 22 assists for 70 points in 62 games this season.
John Carlson will draw out as a healthy scratch so he can have some time to reset and gear up for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Dylan McIlrath will take his place.
Meanwhile, Jakob Chychrun will be a game-time decision. He missed the last two games after being a late scratch against the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday due to illness.
Puck drop is at 6 p.m. at Capital One Arena. It marks Washington's final home game of the regular season.
