Just over a week after making history on Long Island, the Washington Capitals are back in town and looking for a better result as they visit the New York Islanders in their second-to-last game of the season and try to snap a three-game losing streak.

Here's everything to know before puck drop at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Washington Capitals Line Combinations

The Capitals will see more lineup changes with key names in John Carlson and Jakob Chychrun resting ahead of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Charlie Lindgren will start.

Here are the projected combinations:

                               Alex Ovechkin-Dylan Strome-Anthony Beauvillier

                              Connor McMichael-Pierre-Luc Dubois-Tom Wilson

                                  Andrew Mangiapane-Lars Eller-Ryan Leonard

                                   Brandon Duhaime-Nic Dowd-Taylor Raddysh

                                                       Rasmus Sandin-Matt Roy

                                         Alex Alexeyev-Trevor van Riemsdyk

                                               Martin Fehervary-Dylan McIlrath

                                                              Charlie Lindgren

                                                               Clay Stevenson

Washington Capitals Stats

- Alex Ovechkin has points in seven straight games, with goals in six of those outings.

- Dylan Strome has picked up points in seven of his last eight games.

Washington Capitals Storylines

- Keep an eye on Andrew Mangiapane, as the forward looks to contribute some offense as he gears up for the playoffs.

- Also look out for Ryan Leonard as he continues to get acclimated with the NHL. He's been showing his physicality a bit more of late, which should serve him well.

- The Capitals have been perfect on the penalty kill now for five straight games.

- Washington does want a better overall performance, though; the team is 3-6-1 over the last 10, has given up at least three goals in 11 straight contests and has the lowest goals-for percentage at 5-on-5 over that span.
