Marc DesRosiers — USA TODAY Sports - Oshie Dealing With Upper-Body Injury Ahead Of 1,000th NHL Game, Questionable vs. Canucks

T.J. Oshie's 1,000th NHL game may have to wait, as the winger is a game-time decision for the Washington Capitals against the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday.

Head coach Spencer Carbery told reporters in Vancouver. that Oshie's status is up in the air as he deals with an upper-body injury. That injury appeared to flare up again at morning skate, as he left the ice and did not return.

"He'll be a game-time decision tonight," Carbery said.

Oshie recently returned from a non-contact, upper-body injury that held him out of the lineup for nearly three weeks. He suffered that injury, which is suspected to be related to his chronic back issues, while trying to play the puck in a Feb. 22 meeting with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The 37-year-old has played in 999 NHL games so far over his 16-year career, picking up 301 goals and 388 assists.

Oshie has been limited to just 41 games this season, picking up 11 goals and eight assists for 19 points. He scored for the Capitals in Thursday's 2-1 win over the Seattle Kraken.

If Oshie cannot dress, the "TJ1K" festivities will wait, and either Nicolas Aube-Kubel or Mike Sgarbossa will draw back into the lineup.

Washington is in the middle of its biggest road trip of the season, a five-game trek out West to take on top opponents while trying to keep its playoff hopes alive. D.C. sits three points out of a Wild Card spot.

Puck drop with the Canucks, who sit atop the Western Conference, is at 10 p.m. ET at Rogers Arena.
