The Capitals dropped the first game of a vital road trip.

The Washington Capitals are in the throes of the toughest and biggest road trip of the year, one that could determine the season and the playoffs. It got off on the wrong foot, though, in a tough loss to the Winnipeg Jets.
Washington got some looks but couldn't sustain pressure or replicate offense in a 3-0 loss to the Jets. Here are all the takeaways.
The Capitals had been getting goals from all areas prior to their tilt with Winnipeg, but on Monday, they just couldn't sustain momentum, leading to a shutout loss.
Washington also struggled to get some pressure going and couldn't get on the forecheck, leading to the Jets controlling a good amount of the play and outshooting D.C. 29-23.
The power play hot streak also ended at seven games as the team went 0-for-1.
The Capitals also struggled on defense, with miscues and poor reads leading to goals against as Winnipeg dominated.
Charlie Lindgren did what he could but didn't have much of a chance on the goals against and stopped 26 of 29.
The Capitals were also down a man as Tom Wilson didn't play due to an upper-body injury, but T.J. Oshie made his return from a week-to-week injury.
Oshie, 37, skated 16:06 and had one shot on goal, and he had a plus/minus rating of minus-2 in his first game back.
