While back home in Russia for the final weeks of summer, Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin is using his time to give back and celebrate breaking Wayne Gretzky's record with fans, as the festivities are set to continue with his annual youth tournament, the Ovi Cup, on Saturday.

There, Ovechkin will share a piece of history with fans in attendance, putting on display the stick that he broke Wayne Gretzky's all-time NHL goals record with. Fans will get to take pictures with the stick.

Ovechkin broke Gretzky's record by scoring career goal No. 895 on April 6 against the New York Islanders, when he beat Ilya Sorokin on a wrist shot from his office on the power play. He added two goals before the regular season culminated to set the new record at 897.

The 39-year-old totalled 44 goals through 65 games last season to pass Gretzky, and also finished with the third-most goals in the league despite missing 16 games due to a broken leg.

Ovechkin will also play in a gala match with other NHL stars to close out the Ovi Cup back home.
