Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin is set to star in a documentary series focused on his career and life, as he partnered with Yandex on Tuesday to have an original film or series made about him.

Ovechkin signed a three-year deal with Yandex services, the top search engine in Russia that also owns a number of different services, including the streaming service KinoPoisk.

KinoPoisk, in turn, has acquired the rights to stream an upcoming documentary series about Ovechkin, which is set to be filmed in North America. Plus Studio, Yandex's production label, has also gotten the rights to create an original film or documentary series about Ovechkin.

Ovechkin is coming off a historic 20th season in the NHL, where despite breaking his leg and missing 16 games, he scored 44 goals — the third-most in the league — in 65 games to break Wayne Gretzky's all-time goals record.
