The Washington Capitals officially welcomed Alex Tuch to the District on Friday.

Tuch toured MedStar Capitals Iceplex and took the ice for the first time in Capitals colors, as informal skates start back up slowly but surely.

The 30-year-old forward was acquired in a sign-and-trade with the Buffalo Sabres ahead of free agency, where he signed an eight-year, $84 million contract to come to Washington.

Tuch is coming off a strong year with the Sabres, where he had 33 goals and 33 assists for 66 points in 79 games. In three of the last four seasons, he's hit the 30-goal mark and has picked up at least 66 points.

He also isn't the only new Capital to put work in in his new team's colors.

Boone Jenner, who is training in London, also sported some new gear. He signed a four-year contract to join D.C. on the opening day of free agency.

Jenner joins the Capitals following a 13-year stint with the Columbus Blue Jackets. In 67 games last season, he had 13 goals and 35 assists for 38 points.
