The Capitals are bringing in another defensive-minded center to replace Nic Dowd.

The Washington Capitals have reportedly added a forward before the NHL Trade Deadline, acquiring center David Kampf from the Vaancouver Canucks.

Per TSN's Darren Dreger, Washington traded a sixth-round pick for Kampf.

Kampf started the season with the Toronto Maple Leafs before being placed on unconditional waivers to terminate his contract in November. From there, he signed a one-year, $1.1 million deal with Vancouver.

The 31-year-old has appeared in 38 games for the Canucks this season, picking up two goals and four assists for six points, along with a plus/minus rating of minus-12. He also represented the Czech Republic at the Winter Olympics, putting up a goal and three assists.

Kampf is a defensive-minded center that is very coachable and reliable in all situations, and he can kill penalties. The 6-foot-2 pivot is versatile and hard-working, and replaces Nic Dowd, who was trade dto the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday.
