The Capitals got some tough news on the injury front ahead of their tilt with the Hurricanes.

WASHINGTON — The Washington Capitals are working through quite a bit on the injury front, and got some tough news on Saturday with Connor McMichael being listed as week-to-week with an upper-body injury.

McMichael was hurt on a hit in the corner in the third period of Thursday's 4-3 shootout win over the Detroit Red Wings. With the 25-year-old out, Bogdan Trineyev's been called up as coach Spencer Carbery urges his group to step up and fill the void.

"We're going to need it through the penalty kill and power play, 5-on-5. It'll be different guys in different situations," Carbery said of filling the void, adding,
"There's a lot of things that Mikey brings inside of our lineup that we'll just need other guys to pick up the slack."

In other news, Matt Roy is day-to-day with a lower-body injury, and Charlie Lindgren is also on the IR after suffering a lower-body injury in Thursday's win.

Thompson's injury is day-to-day and there is no concern regarding his availability for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan Cortina.

With Thompson and Lindgren unavailable, Clay Stevenson is expected to start, and Garin Bjorklund has been recalled from Hershey.

Washington hosts the Carolina Hurricanes at 5 p.m. ET.
