Washington Capitals goaltender Logan Thompson will be taking his talents to the pitcher's mound.

Thompson is set to throw out the first pitch at the Washington Nationals' game against the New York Mets on Wednesday. He's attending as a special guest of the Humane Rescue Alliance, a program he’s spent time working with to help rescue animals in the area.

"Logan and his fiancée, Linnea, are huge animal lovers who’ve teamed up with HRA to help more pets in DC find safe, loving homes,” the HRA wrote on social media. “Big thanks to the Capitals for always backing dog rescue and to the Nationals for making Pups in the Park one of our favorite traditions.”
