ARLINGTON, V.A. — The Washington Capitals got together to take their team photo ahead of a high-spirited practice on Monday, and though Jakob Chychrun was geared up and posing, he didn't stay on for practice.

Chychrun took the day off after suffering a skate blade cut back in the first period of Saturday's 6-3 win over the Florida Panthers. The 26-year-old blueliner was cut by a skate in the wrist/hand area, leading to stitches and a "significant cut," though he returned for the remaining two periods of play.

Per head coach Spencer Carbery, there is a "little bit" of concern regarding Chychrun's status for Tuesday's game against the Winnipeg Jets due to the injury, though he will travel with the team and they will see how he feels ahead of game time.

"It's scary stuff when you see things that become that close to being really, really dangerous," Carbery said.

With the exception of Chychrun, the lines stayed the same, with Alex Ovechkin remaining with Dylan Strome and Aliaksei Protas on the top line, while Connor McMichael, Tom Wilson and Pierre-Luc Dubois stayed together on the second.

If Chychrun doesn’t play, expect either Alex Alexeyev or Dylan McIlrath to draw into the lineup after extended periods of sitting.

There was another positive sight at team photo day, as Sonny Milano took the ice with his teammates to pose for the picture. He did not practice, but was on the ice and geared up.

Milano been out since Nov. 6 with an upper-body injury, and though he was nearing a comeback in late February, he suffered another setback that appears likely to hold him out for the remainder of the regular season. He remains on long-term injured reserve.
