ARLINGTON, V.A. — The Washington Capitals are monitoring Pierre-Luc Dubois going into Sunday's game against the Seattle Kraken, as the center missed practice due to illness on Saturday.
Dubois did not skate, and according to coach Spencer Carbery, it's too early to tell whether he will be able to play against Seattle.
The 28-year-old center has been powering Washington's impressive second line with Alex Tuch and Tom Wilson and has a goal and three assists for four points in four games.
With Dubois' status up in the air, the lines could potentially change, with Boone Jenner available to suit up at center if need be and Ethen Frank and Ivan Miroshnichenko available as extra forwards. Carbery wouldn't commit to how the forward lines will look, though, with things still uncertain.
Meanwhile, Matt Roy remains out of the mix and is likely to miss his third straight game on Sunday, though he's making progress after suffering a lower-body injury in Saturday's loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Per Carbery, Roy skated on his own again on Sunday and is progressing. He remains day-to-day, and as he recovers, the Capitals will continue to monitor the possibility of making a call-up if they have to.
After practice on Saturday, Washington's players took to the ice with their kids as the team held a family day, something Carbery believes not only energizes the group but further speaks to the culture of the team.
Washington plays at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
