PHILADELPHIA — After a wild win on Monday, the Washington Capitals are looking to keep the good times rolling as they hit the road for a quick back-to-back, starting with the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday.
Timothy Liljegren is set to make his Capitals debut days after being acquired at the 2026 NHL Trade Deadline. He'll move around and play with different partners, but is expected to start alongside Martin Fehervary. Matt Roy, who will get the A" on the road, will also get time with Liljegren.
For coach Spencer Carbery, the expectation is for Liljegren to ease into things and stick to his role as he acclimates and get used to the systems and D.C.'s playing style.
"This is a guy that's played enough games to sort of understand his identity, what his needs to do, the way he needs to approach it. Younger guy, might be a little bit different, but for him, it's just don't overthink it," Carbery said. "Simple is usually better as you're getting comfortable with partners, communication systems and all that stuff."
The forward lines will remain the same, as David Kampf, who joined the team in Philadelphia, will remain out. He is still working through immigration and hasn't been cleared to play at this time.
On special teams, Pierre-Luc Dubois will remain on the first power-play unit, while Aliaksei Protas will get another opportunity to play on the man advantage on the second unit.
Logan Thompson will get the start, with Charlie Lindgren expected to play on Thursday against the Buffalo Sabres.
Puck drop is at 7:30 p.m. at Xfinity Mobile Arena.
