The Washington Capitals are looking to show that Tuesday was a one-off, and they'll get the opportunity to prove just that as they host the St. Louis Blues on Thursday.
Charlie Lindgren will be back between the pipes against his former team as the goaltending rotation continues in D.C. Joel Hofer will get the start for St. Louis, as Alex Ovechkin aims to continue his "GR8 Chase" and score on Hofer, who he has faced just once and has never scored on.
The rest of the lineup is expected to remain the same, as coach Spencer Carbery wants to stick with his combinations at 5-on-5 and continue to build chemistry there down the stretch.
Here are the projected combinations:
Alex Ovechkin-Dylan Strome-Aliaksei Protas
Connor McMichael-Pierre-Luc Dubois-Tom Wilson
Andrew Mangiapane-Lars Eller-Ethen Frank
Brandon Duhaime-Nic Dowd-Taylor Raddysh
Rasmus Sandin-John Carlson
Martin Fehervary-Matt Roy
Jakob Chychrun-Trevor van Riemsdyk
Charlie Lindgren
Logan Thompson
Meanwhile, the team watched Sonny Milano continue to trend in the right direction, as he again skated in a regular jersey after upgrading from non-contact at Wednesday's optional skate. The 28-year-old still has a ways to go before returning to game action, but it is a positive step in the right direction.
Puck drop is at 7 p.m. at Capital One Arena.
