ARLINGTON, V.A. — After a rough go of it and their second consecutive loss at home, coach Spencer Carbery had the Washington Capitals take the ice for a fast-paced, busy practice.
Tom Wilson was on the ice and among those leading the charge after missing Thursday's game due to illness. The 30-year-old is feeling better and expects to draw back in on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Alex Ovechkin skated briefly before having to leave for a promotional shoot, and the team participated in passing drills and skills work before a mini scrimmage to close things out.
Also on the ice was Sonny Milano, who skated once again in a regular jersey as he continues to get back in the rhythm of contact drills. The 28-year-old hasn't played since Nov. 6, and though this is the final step before returning to game action, he still has some ways to go before returning to the lineup.
Nic Dowd, John Carlson and Jakob Chychrun all took maintenance days and will be ready to play on Saturday, per Carbery.
Overall, it was a high-energy practice for D.C., and a needed change of pace as the team looks to get back to its winning ways.
"We need to get our oomph back," Carbery said.
