ARLINGTON, V.A. — The Washington Capitals have re-signed Anthony Beauvillier to a two-year, $5.5 million contract, general manager Chris Patrick announced on Thursday.
Beauvillier carries an average annual value of $2.75 million.
The 29-year-old was traded to Washington at the deadline and had five points in the final 18 games of the season before adding six points in 10 playoff games. He totaled 15 goals and 25 points in 81 games between the Capitals and the Pittsburgh Penguins in the regular season.
Washington’s signing comes after the team missed out on signing Nikolaj Ehlers in free agency. The Capitals are now pivoting and looking to bolster their scoring with different options.
