ARLINGTON, V.A. — The Washington Capitals have re-signed Charlie Lindgren to a three-year contract extension, the team announced on Monday.
Lindgren's contract will carry an AAV of $3 million.
"Since joining our organization in 2022, Charlie has consistently demonstrated exceptional professionalism and reliability in net with his athleticism and drive," general manager Chris Patrick said. "With both goalies under contract for the next three seasons, we expect this tandem to provide our club stability at a crucial position and push one another to compete and play at a high level.”
Through 27 games this season, Lindgren has gone 13-10-3 with a .898 save percentage and 2.70 GAA, along with one shutout. Last season, his .919 save percentage down the stretch helped Washington secure a spot in the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs, earning him Hart and Vezina consideration.
The 31-year-old has appeared in 108 games for the Capitals since signing a three-year deal to join the team in 2022, going 51-37-13 with a .905 save percentage and 2.78 GAA.
Lindgren's extension comes just over a month after the team signed Logan Thompson to a six-year contract, leaving Lindgren uncertain of what was next.
However, the team said it was happy with its 1A/1B tandem, and Lindgren expressed how much he's loved being part of the Capitals organization.
