WASHINGTON — The Washington Capitals want to right the ship quickly following a "one-off" performance on Tuesday, and they'll get the chance as they continue their home stand against the St. Louis Blues on Thursday.
Here's everything to know before puck drop at 7 p.m. at Capital One Arena.
The Capitals will stick with the same line combinations for the most part, except Tom Wilson is out with an illness, so Jakub Vrana will slot in up front.
The only change will come in net as Charlie Lindgren gets the start as the goaltending rotation continues.
Here are the combinations:
Alex Ovechkin-Dylan Strome-Aliaksei Protas
Connor McMichael-Pierre-Luc Dubois-Taylor Raddysh
Andrew Mangiapane-Lars Eller-Ethen Frank
Brandon Duhaime-Nic Dowd-Jakub Vrana
Rasmus Sandin-John Carlson
Martin Fehervary-Matt Roy
Jakob Chychrun-Trevor van Riemsdyk
Charlie Lindgren
Logan Thompson
- John Carlson is on a career-high nine-game assist streak.
- Dylan Strome also has points in nine straight outings.
- Alex Ovechkin remains a player to watch with eight goals in his last eight games. He is 12 goals away from breaking Wayne Gretzky's all-time goals record, and will face Joel Hofer for just the second time in his career.
- Also watch for Rasmus Sandin, who continues to be an impact defender at both ends of the ice.
- Lars Eller's third line has also been getting more opportunities, so keep an eye out for him as well.
