A former Washington Capitals forward is back in the minors after his latest stint with the New York Rangers lasted just six games.
Taylor Raddysh was a reliable depth piece for the Washington Capitals just two seasons ago. Now, the 28-year-old forward is once again on the outside looking in.
Raddysh was sent down to the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack after a brief stint with the New York Rangers.
Raddysh spent the 2024-25 season in Washington, where he proved to be a solid contributor in a bottom-six role. He appeared in 80 regular-season games, scoring seven goals and adding 20 assists for 27 points. He also chipped in an assist across seven playoff appearances.
It wasn't a particularly flashy season, but Raddysh did what was asked of him, providing the kind of depth that teams need over an 82-game schedule.
The former Capitals forward had been back on the Rangers' NHL roster since Oct. 16, when he was recalled from Hartford. He appeared in six games during that stretch, registering one assist, which came in a 5-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks in his second appearance.
He didn't exactly get much of an opportunity to make an impression, either, averaging just 7:34 of ice time per game.
Raddysh has had more success in Hartford this season, collecting three goals and two assists for five points in five games.
His best NHL campaign, however, came with the Chicago Blackhawks, where he spent parts of three seasons. During the 2022-23 campaign, Raddysh enjoyed a breakout year, scoring a career-high 20 goals and adding 17 assists for 37 points in 78 games.
He hasn't reached the 10-goal mark in a season since.
It's a far cry from the production he enjoyed in Chicago, although Raddysh has generally carved out a role for himself as a dependable depth forward rather than a consistent offensive threat.
Whether he can work his way back into a permanent NHL role remains to be seen. For now, it looks like he could be spending more time bouncing between Hartford and New York.
In a corresponding move, the Rangers recalled 23-year-old forward Jaroslav Chmelař, who has recorded two goals and two assists in seven games with the Wolf Pack this season.
