The Washington Capitals have their starter for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, as Logan Thompson will return from injury and get the nod to open the series against the Montreal Canadiens.

Washington wouldn’t reveal its starter until warmups, where Thompson led his group onto the ice.

Thompson hasn’t played since April 2, when he suffered an upper-body injury against the Carolina Hurricanes. However, he has been a full go in the last couple of practices and looks to be at 100 percent.

The 28-year-old, who was acquired by the Capitals to replace Darcy Kuemper, is coming off an impressive first season in D.C. Through 43 games, he is 31-6-6 with a .910 save percentage and 2.49 GAA.

In four playoffs appearances with the Vegas Golden Knights last season, he has a .921 save percentage.

His performance earned him a six-year contract extension.

Washington opens the Stanley Cup Playoffs on Monday at 7 p.m. at Capital One Arena.
