With NHL 27 coming out next month, Electronic Arts released a handful of player ratings for the video game on Tuesday, with some changes coming to the Washington Capitals.

Tom Wilson earned a promotion in this year's game, shifting from an 86 overall to an 88 and ranking No. 89 among all forwards. His acceleration and speed sit at 87 and 88 overall respectively, and his slap shot power of 90 overall is his best rating.

The 31-year-old is coming off another impressive year, where he had 30 goals and 32 assists for 62 points, along with 117 penalty minutes, in 72 games. He also worked his way onto Team Canada's Olympics roster, and had four points in six games on the international stage in Milan

Meanwhile, Alex Ovechkin still leads the team in his overall rating, but dropped from a 90 to an 89, putting him below the 90-mark for the first time in years, His acceleration and speed sit at 83 and 84 overall, and his deking is at an 83. His slap shot and wrist shot power remain at 93 overall, and his passing is rated at 87.

Ovechkin, who turns 41 in September, still led the Capitals in scoring last season with 32 goals and 32 assists for 64 points while appearing in all 82 games. He also hit 1,000 career combined goals between regular season and playoffs, and is 11 away from passing Wayne Gretzky for the most in NHL history.

After the start of free agency, Ovechkin chose to put off retirement and return for his 22nd season, signing a one-year extension. He's expected to play a different role this season on a revamped Capitals roster looking to return to the playoffs and make a case as a legitimate contender.

Behind Ovechkin and Wilson, newcomer Alex Tuch has an 88 overall rating, followed by Dylan Strome at 87 and new addition Jordan Kyrou, Aliaksei Protas and Pierre-Luc Dubois at 86 overall.

Defensemen and goaltender rankings will be released at a later date. Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid is the highest ranked player in the game at 99 overall.
