The Washington Capitals appear to be making some tweaks to the lineup as they try to even the series against the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 4 on Monday, and it looks like Ryan Leonard will be back in the mix.
Per NHL.com's Dan Rosen, Taylor Raddysh stayed on for extra work with scratches Ethen Frank, Dylan McIlrath and Ethan Bear after the team's optional morning skate, indicating he will be out of the mix. However, coach Spencer Carbery, as has been the case this postseason, wouldn't confirm anything regarding his lineup.
Leonard has been a healthy scratch for the last two games, with Carbery wanting to give the freshman a chance to catch his breath after a whirlwind month in the NHL. He has one assist through six playoff games so far, and while he's generated quite a few chances, he's struggled to finish his chances on the third line with Lars Eller and Andrew Mangiapane.
Raddysh has appeared in the last two games for Washington after drawing out amid Aliaksei Protas' return to the lineup, managing three shots while averaging just over 10 minutes of ice time.
While the third line showed flashes of strong play with Raddysh, the team still needs some more secondary scoring and speed, and Leonard is a player that can help in this area.
With Leonard back in, Washington may consider making some more tweaks and moving some more names around, especially with Alex Ovechkin's top line struggling to get much going and the team needing to shake things up to ignite a spark.
Puck drop is at 7 p.m. at Lenovo Center. With a win, the Capitals would even the series at 2.
