Ryan Leonard took the ice for a good cause on Thursday, taking the ice for the fourth annual Shoulder Check Showcase.

This year's Shoulder Check took place at Sacred Heart University's Martire Family Arena. It brings together top hockey players and personalities to support the HT40 Foundation, which strives to bring people together through empathy and compassion.

Leonard took the ice with a variety of other NHLers, including former Boston University teammate and New York Rangers forward Gabe Perreault, Phiadelphia Flyers forward Trevor Zegras, St. Louis Blues forward Mason McTavish and many other top stars.

Teams were split between coaches Ben Prentiss and former Washington defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk. Leonard played on Prentiss' team and scored a goal in the game.

The Shoulder Check happens every summer in honor of Hayden Thorsen, who died by suicide in May 2022. He would always check on his teammates with a tap on the shoulder.
