ARLINGTON, V.A. — The Washington Capitals have named forward Tom Wilson their nominee for the King Clancy Memorial Trophy, the team announced Wednesday.
The King Clancy Memorial Trophy is awarded annually "to the player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community."
Wilson has given back to the D.C. community in multiple ways, including with his program Forty Three's Friends, a program where he provides tickets and postgame meet-and-greets to families affiliated with Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic and United Heroes League, and through So Kids Can, another program he is part of with teammates Nicklas Backstrom and Martin Fehervary.
The 31-year-old also volunteers with Wolf Trap Animal Rescue, helping to get puppies and other rescue animals ready for their foster families.

ARLINGTON, V.A. — When Tom Wilson isn't throwing his opponents into the boards, dropping the gloves or putting up career-best numbers with the Washington Capitals, you can usually find him working with puppies.
Wilson also met with families of the Flight 5342 aviation accident before the Legacy on Ice live figure skating tribute on March 2 and also attended the event, which supported the figure skating community, first responders and the victims and their families.
