Alex Tuch and Jordan Kyrou each scored twice, while Dylan Strome recorded three assists as Washington capped its homestand with a 5-2 win over Philadelphia.

The Washington Capitals closed out their five-game homestand on a high note Wednesday, using a four-goal performance from Alex Tuch and Jordan Kyrou to earn a 5-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers at Capital One Arena.

Tuch and Kyrou scored twice each, while Aliaksei Protas added a goal for Washington (7-4-0), which finished its homestand with a 4-1-0 record. Dylan Strome recorded three assists, Pierre-Luc Dubois and Jack St. Ivany each had two, and Logan Thompson made 23 saves.

Tuch opened the scoring just 1:50 into the first period, putting Washington ahead with a rebound finish. Philadelphia captain Sean Couturier tied the game at 4:36 of the second, redirecting a point shot for his first goal of the season.

Kyrou restored the Capitals’ lead on the power play at 7:14, beating Joseph Woll from the left circle. Protas extended the advantage to 3-1 late in the period, tipping in Matt Roy’s shot with just over three minutes remaining.

The Flyers made things interesting in the third when Matvei Michkov scored on the power play at 9:44, cutting the deficit to one. Washington responded less than four minutes later, as Kyrou scored his second of the night at 12:51 to make it 4-2. Tuch sealed the victory with an empty-net goal at 17:36, completing his two-goal performance.

Woll finished with 25 saves for Philadelphia (3-8-4), which has now lost three consecutive games and was playing the second half of a back-to-back after falling to Columbus in overtime Tuesday.

The win capped a productive stretch for Washington’s top line. Tuch has scored four goals over his past two games, while Kyrou has collected eight points in his last five. Strome has also contributed six points over his past two outings.

Washington will look to carry that momentum into its next game, while Philadelphia aims to get back on track after another difficult result.
