Alex Tuch matched franchise history as his torrid scoring streak fueled a dominant divisional victory, capping a successful homestand while solidifying his role as Washington’s newest offensive powerhouse.

Alex Tuch is making himself right at home in Washington.

The Capitals forward continued his hot start with his new team Wednesday night, scoring twice to lead Washington past the Philadelphia Flyers, 5-2, at Capital One Arena. His second goal came into an empty net late in the game, putting the finishing touches on another strong night for the Caps.

Tuch now has nine goals through his first 11 games in a Washington sweater. That's pretty impressive company, too. He's just the second player in franchise history to reach that mark, joining Dino Ciccarelli, who opened his Capitals career with 12 goals in his first 11 appearances back in 1988-89.

Washington acquired Tuch from Buffalo before locking him up with an eight-year, $84 million extension in June. So far, that investment is looking pretty good.

Jordan Kyrou also found the back of the net twice, while Aliaksei Protas picked up his first goal of the season. The win wrapped up Washington's five-game homestand, with the Capitals taking four of those five games.

Dylan Strome was a big part of the offensive effort, handing out three assists. Jack St. Ivany and Pierre-Luc Dubois each chipped in with two helpers of their own.

Logan Thompson was back between the pipes after sitting out Saturday's win over Buffalo with a lower-body injury. He looked solid, turning aside 23 of the 25 shots he faced.

Philadelphia had its moments, with Matvei Michkov getting the Flyers on the board with his ninth goal of the season. Five of his nine goals have now come on the power play. Sean Couturier also scored early in the second period to briefly pull Philadelphia even.

But the Flyers couldn't keep up with Washington's offense down the stretch. Joseph Woll finished with 25 saves as Philadelphia dropped its third straight game, following Tuesday's overtime loss to Columbus.

The Capitals now have four wins in five games during their homestand, and Tuch's arrival is giving the offense another dangerous weapon as Washington looks to keep building momentum.
