The Capitals are taking a flyer on Alex Limoges, inking him to a one-year deal. Here's what to know about him.

The Washington Capitals have made another depth signing, inking forward Alex Limoges to a one-year, two-year contract.

Limoges led the Manitoba Moose in scoring last season with 20 goals and 34 assists for 54 points in 63 games.

The Northern Virginia native also skated for the U16 Little Caps and skated with Peter Bondra's son. Limoges is able to play a strong two-way game and make use of the time and space he's given. He is a hard worker and takes good care of the puck, and his high hockey IQ and quick hands help him when it comes to making plays through traffic, getting to the high-danger areas and finishing his chances.

Limoges rose to prominence in the NCAA, where he played Big 10 hockey with Penn State. However, he undrafted and went the AHL route, skating for the Moose and San Diego Gulls before that. Now, he wants to show that he's an NHL caliber player and that he can capitalize on this opportunity.

The 25-year-old has yet to play an NHL game, but after making strides last season, he hopes to take the next step forward.

Looking at what he brings to the table, Limoges reads the game well and can play either center or wing. He is a proven catalyst on offense, and at the very least, he will add to what's already a very stacked Hershey Bears team with the likes of Connor McMichael, Aliaksei Protas and Beck Malenstyn projected to make the NHL jump this season.

Limoges joins Pierrick Dube and Matthew Phillips as other AHLers who have joined D.C. so far this offseason.
