
ARLINGTON, V.A. -- The Washington Capitals have recalled forward Beck Malenstyn from the Hershey Bears on an emergency basis, general manager Brian MacLellan said.
The recall comes after Anthony Mantha suffered a lower-body injury on Thursday, leaving the team with 17 skaters. T.J. Oshie and Trevor van Riemsdyk are also dealing with injuries.
Malenstyn has played in five games with Washington, recording a goal and an assist and showing chemistry on the fourth line alongside Nic Dowd. His time up in D.C. was limited, as he suffered a broken hand blocking a shot in his fifth game in.
In 39 games with the Bears this season, the 25-year-old has recorded seven goals and three assists.
