The Washington Capitals are at a critical juncture, and they got some good and bad news on the injury and absence front on Thursday ahead of a key matchup against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Sonny Milano and Nick Jensen are both expected to be back in the mix against the Flyers after missing the last two games due to an illness and lower-body injury, respectively. Milano was skating on the second line with Max Pacioretty and Dylan Strome, and Jensen was on the second defensive pairing with Joel Edmundson at Thursday's practice.
“We expect them if all goes well post-practice, tomorrow, they will hopefully be in the lineup," head coach Spencer Carbery told reporters.
Tom Wilson, meanwhile, is questionable for Friday's contest after missing Thursday's practice due to personal reasons.
In other injury news, Nic Dowd and Martin Fehervary got some individual work in before practice, but did not stay on to join the group. Dowd is day-to-day with an upper-body injury he suffered against New Jersey on Feb. 20, and Fehervary is week-to-week with a lower-body injury he suffered against Montreal on Feb. 17.
Per Carbery, both are "trending in the right direction."
T.J. Oshie, who is week-to-week after suffering a non-contact injury in Tampa, has not skated but has been around the facility. And, despite not taking the ice, he is also taking positive steps forward.
"I think he’s progressing, I just don’t know to what extent as far as playing and practicing and that but progressing," Carbery said.
