The Washington Capitals will have another representative at the IIHF World Championship, as prospect Ryan Leonard will lace 'em up with Team USA.
Leonard joins an impressive roster that also features the likes of Brady Tkachuk, Kevin Hayes, Seth Jones, Matt Boldy, Cole Caufield and more NHL regulars. Charlie Lindgren was offered a spot on the roster, but turned the invite down.
He will be the second member of the Capitals to head to the tournament, as defenseman Martin Fehervary is playing for Slovakia.
Leonard is coming off an impressive year at Boston College that saw him set the single-season record for most goals by a freshman (31), and he had 60 points in 41 games for the Eagles this season. He will return for his sophomore season next year.
The 19-year-old also won a gold medal playing for Team USA at the IIHF World Junior Championships earlier this year, putting up three goals and three assists in seven games.
Worlds kick off on Friday in Prague.
