The Capitals winger didn't take any outside contact on the play when he was injured.

The Washington Capitals have lost a key piece of the lineup with T.J. Oshie leaving Thursday's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning with an apparent injury.

Oshie was handling the puck and turned when he appeared to pull something and went down. He did not take any outside contact, and was down on the ice in visible pain by the bench.

After being attended to by Jason Serbus, the 37-year-old crawled back to the bench and sat for a moment before sliding down and ultimately being helped up by Darcy Kuemper and helped down the tunnel by trainers.

Oshie was playing in his 996th NHL game.
