For the fourth straight year, Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson found himself to be a popular answer among his fellow players in the NHL Plays' Association Player Poll for a popular question: Which player do you least enjoy playing against but would like to have on your team?
Wilson ranked fourth in the survey, with 6.67 percent of players saying that they hate facing No. 43 but would want him on their side. Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand won the poll for the fourth consecutive year, with him earning 29.19 percent of the vote. Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid (17.48) and Florida Panthers winger Matthew Tkachuk (7.57) ranked behind Marchand and ahead of Wilson. Nathan MacKinnon ranked behind Wilson, while 33.87 percent of voters chose different players.
Over the last three seasons, Wilson had rounded out the top three, and this marked the first time he'd dropped down to No. 4.
The Washington alternate captain was the only Capitals player to be a top answer for questions in the poll, which surveyed 639 NHL players.
Wilson has racked up 17 goals and 15 assists for 32 points in 70 games this season, along with 214 hits (second-most on the team) and 124 penalty minutes. He recently finished serving a six-game suspension for high-sticking Toronto Maple Leafs forward Noah Gregor.
Here are the full results from the annual NHLPA survey, which also asked players which goaltender they'd want in net for a must-win game, who has the best style, which arena has the best ice and much more.
