The Capitals said goodbye to Mantha, Edmundson and Kuznetsov.

ARLINGTON, V.A. — The Washington Capitals are done making moves and finished all of their transactions ahead of the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline, which came and went at 3 p.m. on Friday.

Washington hung onto several key players, choosing to keep Nic Dowd, Max Pacioretty, Nicolas Aube-Kubel and Charlie Lindgren rather than continue a sell-off.

The Capitals parted ways with Anthony Mantha, Joel Edmundson and Evgeny Kuznetsov ahead of the deadline, though, sending them to the Vegas Golden Knights, Toronto Maple Leafs and Carolina Hurricanes while picking up second, third, fourth and fifth-round draft picks in return.

Washington now owns 26 draft selections in the next three drafts.

Here are all the team's transactions going into the deadline:

    - Washington traded center Evgeny Kuznetsov to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for a third-round pick. The Capitals will retain 50 percent of Kuznetsov's salary.

    - Washington traded defenseman Joel Edmundson to the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for a 2024 third-round pick (originally from the New York Islanders) and a 2025 fifth-round pick (originally from the Chicago Blackhawks). The Capitals will retain 50 percent of Edmundson's salary.

    - Washington traded forward Anthony Mantha to the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for a 2024 second-round pick and a 2026 fourth-round pick. The Capitals will retain 50 percent of Mantha's salary.

In addition to making the Kuznetsov trade, the Capitals also made some paper moves, assigning and later recalling Hendrix Lapierre, Ivan Miroshnichenko and Hunter Shepard from the AHL's Hershey Bears in order to make them eligible for the Calder Cup Playoffs.

Mike Sgarbossa is the only call-up that is not eligible for the AHL playoffs, as he was not placed on waivers on Thursday. He is expected to remain up with the big club through the remainder of the season.

General manager Brian MacLellan will address the media at 3:30 p.m. ET to explain his deadline approach and share more insight on moves that were made and weren't made.
