The Capitals' annual development camp opens on July 1, the start of 2023 NHL Free Agency.

ARLINGTON, V.A. -- The Washington Capitals will see their top prospects take the ice to open the month of July, as the team is set to host its annual development camp at MedStar Capitals Iceplex in Arlington, Virginia.

Washington's camp will go from Saturday, July 1 to Wednesday, July 5. All sessions are open and free to the public. July 1 also marks the opening day of NHL Free Agency.

The Capitals will close out development camp with a 3-on-3 tournament taking place at 9 a.m. ET on Wednesday.

Washington's roster and full on-ice schedule for camp will be announced at a later date.

Last year's attendees included the likes of 2020 and 2021 top picks Hendrix Lapierre and Vincent Iorio, along with 2022 second-rounder Ryan Chesley and more.

Ivan Miroshnichenko, the 20th overall pick in 2022, was present for part of development camp last year. However, he did not participate in on-ice sessions as he was still waiting ofr medical clearance following his battle wtih Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

Miroshnichenko is in remission now, and after terminating his KHL deal and signing his entry-level contract, he is expected to come overseas to begin his North American career. He could very well be on ice for this camp and, of course, a top name to keep an eye on.

Also expect the club's 2023 draft picks to get an invite. Washington holds five picks in the 2023 NHL Draft, including the eighth overall selection.

The Capitals will make their picks next Wednesday and Thursday in Nashville.
